Follow the Lives of
by Kelsey Smith
This visualization depicts the “zig-zaggy” lives the cohort of students at MSU Denver took over the course of ten years, semester by semester.
Hover over "Hiatus", “Graduated”, “Transferred Out”, or “Dropped Out” to read more about the definition behind those terms. Pause the animation at any time to digest what is occurring, and use the faster and slower buttons to increase and decrease the animation speed. Utilize the slider bookends for selecting desired ranges of time to loop over.
Note that for cohorts closer to the present, the calculation behind students who "drop out" becomes more unreliable, as insufficient time has elapsed to know whether students are potentially just on hiatus, or have transferred out.
Select from the filters below and click 'Apply' to reload the animation at any time. Animation will only populate with a minimum of 5 individuals.
You may need to wait a moment for any changes to take effect after clicking "Apply" or "Reset".
